Job summary

Atlas Copco Compressors LLC -North America Customer Center is seeking a Project Engineer to lead and support customer centers within our Oil-free Air and Industrial Air Divisions.

You will manage technical and commercial orders for engineered compressed air systems used in the oil & gas, petrochemical, and related industries, collaborating with internal teams to ensure project success and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience with rotating equipment applications is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret pneumatic and hydraulic flow diagrams and general arrangement drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver competitively priced, technically sound quotations for skid-packaged equipment.
  • Analyze customer specifications for compliance and identify exceptions relative to Atlas Copco standards.
  • Convert quotations into confirmed production orders to support project workflows.
  • Collaborate with Application Engineers and customer centers to tailor the optimal technical solution.
  • Formally quote sub-supplied equipment exceeding 10% of the bid with clear documentation.
  • Coordinate with Engineered Solutions teams to maximize gross profit for each project.
  • Adhere to OSHA regulations and SafeStart safety training, promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Overview

As a Project Engineer at Atlas Copco Compressors LLC, you will play a pivotal role in leading and supporting customer centers within our Oil-free Air and Industrial Air Divisions. Your primary responsibility will be to efficiently execute technical and commercial orders for engineered compressed air systems utilized within the oil & gas, petrochemical, and other related industries. This role demands hands-on involvement, strong technical expertise, and close collaboration with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and project success. Reporting directly to the Application Engineering Manager, you will:

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver competitively priced, technically sound quotations for skid-packaged equipment, ensuring profitability and alignment with customer requirements.
  • Thoroughly analyze customer specifications to verify compliance and identify any exceptions relative to Atlas Copco's standards and product capabilities.
  • Provide timely and effective support to sales and Application Engineers by converting quotations into confirmed production orders, streamlining project workflows.
  • Collaborate with Application Engineers and customer centers to tailor the optimal technical solution that aligns with client needs, enhancing customer satisfaction and project outcomes.
  • Formally quote sub-supplied equipment with a value exceeding 10% of the bid, ensuring clear documentation and alignment of all technical and commercial terms within project files.
  • Maintain a consolidated profitability approach by actively coordinating with Engineered Solutions teams worldwide, harmonizing scopes of supply to maximize gross profit for each project.
  • Adhere rigorously to OSHA regulations and the SafeStart safety training process, promoting a proactive safety culture to protect yourself and colleagues from injury.
  • Champion Atlas Copco's "Safety First" policy, striving towards zero work-related accidents and embedding sustainable practices that safeguard quality, environment, health, and energy/resource efficiency goals.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned, contributing flexibly to the evolving needs of the department and company.
Qualifications
  • Broad experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with exposure to industrial customers; familiarity with the oil and gas sector is considered a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to prepare detailed documentation and presentations.
  • The ability to interpret pneumatic and hydraulic flow diagrams alongside general arrangement drawings accurately.
  • Experience or willingness to learn AutoCAD to assist in technical drawing review and preparation is highly beneficial.
  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or at least five years dedicated experience with rotating equipment applications.
  • Self-motivation with strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
