Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The primary purpose of the University Police Department is to protect the lives and property (real and personal) of all personnel and visitors who frequent the campus. This unit must enforce all applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as, the University rules and regulations. In addition, this unit must patrol and secure the grounds of North Carolina Central University by responding to calls and/or complaints and file reports on all incidents.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to monitor halls and office during the working hours; providing customer service; providing information and assistance for visitors and stranded motorists; providing first-aid and transportation for an injured and sick person; testifying in court; traffic and criminal prosecution and testifies at university hearing or student court; patrolling parking lots and university campus or state institutions to detect fires; prowlers, vandals or other unusual conditions; identifies and deters crime, violations or potential hazards during assigned shifts hours.

Demonstrated the ability to provide assistance to motorists, direct traffic, and provide support for special events. He demonstrates the ability to react quickly and skillfully in emergency situations. Demonstrates the ability to respond to numerous types of calls for service on a daily basis and provides information and assistance to students, faculty, staff and visitors.
