Job summary

Chatham County is seeking a Real Property Appraiser to lead the county-wide reappraisal program. You will plan and direct appraisal projects, gather data, and develop schedules of value to ensure equity across neighborhoods and property types.

The role requires knowledge of appraisal practices, strong data analysis, and the ability to communicate results clearly to property owners and the public. A valid NC driver's license is required, with certification within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct the county-wide real property reappraisal process.
• Gathers and analyzes data; prepares and defends the Schedule of Values.
• Collaborate with GIS to integrate sales data for geographic analysis.
• Explain appraisal and reappraisal processes to property owners; assist with informal/formal appeals.
