Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations for a portfolio of property management clients

• Perform bank reconciliations and reconcile property management trust accounts

• Maintain accurate records across accounting and PM software platforms
• Leverage AI tools to streamline routine tasks and improve accuracy
• Support annual audit and tax preparation with external CPAs

The Opportunity

We are looking for a dependable, people-oriented Accountant to join our team and support a portfolio of property management clients. You will own financial reporting, day-to-day accounting operations, and direct client communication for your assigned accounts. No two client situations are identical, and we rely on our team to stay flexible, ask good questions, and deliver consistent, accurate work.

Although you do not need a background in property management accountant, we will need someone that can learn quickly and bring a client focused mindset. What matters most is that you bring solid accounting fundamentals, a genuine service mindset, and the adaptability to work across multiple client environments using the tools we put in front of you, including AI-assisted workflows. We utilize a variety of systems including but not limited to AppFolio, Xero, and Yardi.

What You'll Do

• Manage the day to day operations for a portfolio of property management clients
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments, rent collections, and owner distributions
• Communicate directly with clients — answering questions and providing financial insights
• Perform or review bank reconciliations and reconcile property management trust accounts on a timely basis
• Complete CAM (Common Area Maintenance) and operating expense reconciliations for commercial properties
• Track and process security deposits, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
• Assist with property tax and sales tax filings and other local/state reporting obligations
• Maintain accurate records across accounting and property management software platforms
• Leverage AI tools and technology to streamline routine tasks, improve accuracy, and deliver faster results
• Support annual audit and tax preparation in coordination with external CPAsIdentify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to firm-wide best practices

What You Bring

Required

• 2+ years of professional accounting experience in any industry
• Solid working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
• Excellent customer service instincts — you communicate clearly, follow through, and treat clients like partners
• Flexibility and adaptability: you manage shifting priorities without losing your focus on accuracy
• Openness to learning and using AI tools and new technology as part of your daily workflow
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines across multiple accounts
• Professional written and verbal communication skills

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience in property management accounting, real estate accounting, or a related field
• Familiarity with property management software such as AppFolio and Yardi.
• CPA license or active CPA candidacy
• Experience in a public accounting or multi-client services environment
• Exposure to CAM reconciliations, lease administration, or trust accounting
