Job summary

RPM Living is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to support financial reporting, cash management, and general ledger activities for a portfolio of properties. The role combines monthly close duties with client communications and internal controls to ensure compliance and timely reporting.

The candidate will work in a hybrid office setting, contribute to process improvements, and mentor junior staff while maintaining accuracy across multiple client accounts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of property management experience preferred or equivalent.
  • Industry-specific software: Yardi, MRI, RealPage/Onisite.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial information in accordance with deadlines and policies, maintaining internal controls.
  • Prepare financials for multiple clients with different reporting requirements.
  • Communicate with clients and property management to deliver timely, high-quality service.
  • Use detailed accounting skills to assess appropriate treatment and maintain accuracy.
  • Manage cash flow to fund property expenses and forecast funding needs.
  • Record journal entries, accruals, and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and daily cash balance management.
  • Mentor and train junior staff; support policy and procedure development.

Position Summary

The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for supporting accounting and financial reporting for RPM. This role will be responsible for financial reporting, cash management and the general ledger for a portfolio of properties.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly financial information in accordance with deadlines/requirements while adhering to accounting policies and procedures and maintaining effective internal controls
  • Prepare financials for multiple clients with different reporting requirements
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients and property management in a timely manner while providing exceptional customer service
  • Requires the use of detailed technical accounting skills to assess appropriateness of accounting treatment
  • Requires cash flow management to pay the property expenses and to predict the need for funding
  • Records journal entries & accruals, reconciles income, and documents prepaid rent in industry specific software
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly
  • Perform bank reconciliations as appropriate
  • Perform cash disbursement through wires and checks, prepares invoicing and inter-company collections, and maintains a daily cash balance
  • Act as a mentor to help train new or less experienced accounting staff
  • Participate in the preparation & maintenance of written policies & procedures for functions/duties performed
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Executive Team
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
  • 2+ Years of Property Management Experience Preferred or equivalent
  • Preferred Industry Specific Software: Yardi, MRI, and/or RealPage/Onesite
  • Microsoft Office
Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data
  • Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer
  • May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment

Work Environment:

  • This is a hybrid role, requiring the associate to work in one of our corporate or regional offices 4 days per week
  • The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions

Compensation

The Salary: The anticipated salary range is $65,000 - $85,000 annually.
