Job summary

Saddleback Ski Operations is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead fleet, building and grounds property maintenance. This leadership role ensures all vehicles, public spaces, event facilities, and building systems are maintained to high safety and appearance standards.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of maintenance experience, strong leadership, and proven ability to manage preventive programs, budgets, and cross-functional teams in a resort setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7+ years maintenance experience, preferably in ski resort, hospitality, commercial, or similar.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with maintenance management software and work order systems preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and emergency callouts when necessary.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to work outside in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, train, and supervise the property and vehicle maintenance supervisors.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs for public areas, equipment, vehicles, and building systems.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and general building maintenance issues.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities, grounds, buildings, and equipment to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Manage and coordinate all required life safety inspections, elevator inspections, fire alarm inspections, sprinkler system inspections, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA and local codes.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and guest service requests.
  • Coordinate and manage outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and capital projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, permits, and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare and monitor departmental budgets.

Job Title: Maintenance Manager

Position Summary

Saddleback Ski Operations is seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Manager to lead fleet, building and grounds property maintenance. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring all vehicles (including all terrain), public spaces, event facilities, and building systems are maintained to the highest standards of safety, appearance, and functionality.

The Maintenance Manager will oversee daily maintenance operations departments, manage preventive maintenance programs, coordinate repairs and capital projects, and ensure the property remains guest-ready year-round. During the off-season, this position is responsible for completing preventive maintenance, preparing the resort for a successful upcoming season, and overseeing department’s operating schedules, labor and budget preparations.

As Fleet Maintenance manages the preventative, routine, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance of all vehicles and equipment for Saddleback Ski operations in a proactive, safe, and efficient manner; providing oversight of all maintenance and special projects as assigned by the Director of Operations; providing the quality and service required, and maintaining the standards set forth by Saddleback Ski Operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and successfully lead experienced supervisors enabling the highest levels of execution and job satisfaction while working toward excellent team cohesion and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, train, and supervise the property and vehicle maintenance supervisors.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs for public areas, equipment, vehicles (including all terrain), and building systems.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and general building maintenance issues.

  • Maintain compliance with all OSHA, health department, fire code, building code, and local jurisdiction requirements.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and guest service requests.
  • Coordinate and manage outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, inspections, and capital projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance activities, permits, and regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Prepare and monitor departmental budgets.
  • Support maintenance supervisor with event setup and breakdown requirements in support of resort operations.
  • Complete off-season preventive maintenance plan for all buildings and grounds to ensure the property is fully prepared for peak-season operations.
  • Oversee the maintenance for Saddleback’s fleet, which includes snow cats, snowmobiles, snow blowers, trucks, UTVs, heavy equipment, and other equipment to ensure optimal maintenance, utilization, and rotation of vehicles and equipment.
  • Provide training and leadership to supervisors and subordinates. Develop and review training requirements for maintenance personnel to keep pace with maintenance requirements.
  • Develop and manager departmental and capital budgets to ensure best possible levels of reediness by preparing analysis and strategies to best develop capital requests.
  • Oversee and keep track of all fuel. Ensure compliance , safety, OSHA, Hazmat, SDS, fuel storage, etc.
  • Facilitate meetings and help with effective communication with cross functional teams.
  • Ensure close partnership with mountain operations goals, company policy, including workers compensation, regulatory compliance and industry best practice.
  • Directly manage goal setting, development plans with leadership, and share with supervisors. Manage schedules and performance of supervisors.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with key stakeholders outside the sphere of direct reports.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7+ years maintenance experience, preferably in ski resort, hospitality, commercial, or similar. Preference will be given to candidates with direct management experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with maintenance management software and work order systems preferred.
