Job summary

City of Montgomery Inspections Department seeks a Property Maintenance Inspector II to inspect structures and lots for code compliance, evaluate complex violations, and coordinate abatements with minimal supervision.

The role conducts investigations, issues enforcement actions, and represents the department in court and community settings while overseeing abatement work and property securing with autonomous oversight.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience in construction, building inspection, renovation, property maintenance enforcement, or a closely related field, including at least one (1) year of leadership experience.
• Qualifying education, training, and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential and commercial structures and lots for compliance with the International Property Maintenance Code and related regulations.
• Evaluate complex violations, coordinate nuisance abatements, and conduct detailed investigations.
• Issue enforcement actions and represent the department in court and community settings.
• Oversee abatement work and property‑securing activities with autonomy.
