Job summary

University of Utah Health seeks an Evidence Technician to manage property, evidence, and items held for safekeeping within the Department of Public Safety. You will receive, process, label, store, and document evidence, ensuring chain‑of‑custody integrity and secure storage.

You will coordinate transfers with labs and courts and assist in lawful release or disposition of items, while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in high‑security environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus four years of experience with a police agency or equivalent.
• Background check and drug screen may be required.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, identify, document, and maintain custody of evidence and property.
• Enter and maintain records in the RMS with property numbers, descriptions, and disposition information.
• Maintain chain‑of‑custody documentation and secure storage areas for evidence.
• Coordinate transfers with laboratories, courts, and other agencies.
• Assist with disposal of property and evidence per policy and law.
