Job summary

Bloomington Police Department is seeking a Property Control Specialist to manage intake, storage, and disposition of property and evidence. You will ensure chain-of-custody and compliant handling under supervision, with opportunities for court testimony as needed.

The role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of evidence procedures, and proficiency with MS Office. Full-time, non-exempt position in Bloomington, MN with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of customer service experience.
• One year of experience in records management, law enforcement, inventory control, warehouse logistics, or evidence/property handling.
• Valid driver’s license.
• MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Receive, categorize, and store all incoming evidence and property, ensuring proper documentation and secure handling.
• Ensure chain-of-custody integrity is maintained at all times.
• Prepares evidence for transport to court, crime laboratories, or other authorized agencies; testify in court as necessary regarding handling and storage of evidence.
• Operates property management software and information systems.
• Conducts routine inventories, reconciliations, inspections, and purges of stored property and evidence; assists with scheduled audits and comprehensive inventories as directed.
