Job summary

The City of Charlotte’s CMPD is hiring a Police Property Control Technician to handle impounded property for the Property and Evidence Management Division. You will maintain custody records, process evidence, and support investigations with accurate documentation.

This full-time position requires a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license, with duties including secure storage, court testimony, and routine audits.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Maintain valid NC or SC driver's license with three years of driving history.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of evidence chain of custody and handling.

Responsibilities

• Receive, package, label, and store evidence and property items.
• Maintain secure storage and accurate chain of custody records.
• Submit evidence to supervisors, laboratories, or courts as required.
• Testify in court regarding handling and custody of evidence.
• Release property to authorized personnel following procedures.
• Scan and track property using databases and inventory systems.
