PRIMARY PURPOSE: Handles losses and claims valued up to $15,000 for property and casualty insurers through thorough examination of documents, records, loss reports, and other relevant documentation. Efficiently manages a caseload using technology for effective claim processing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluates insurance policies, claims forms, policies, endorsements, carrier instructions, and other records to determine insurance coverage.
Conducts investigations, gathers reports, consults police and hospital records, inspects damages, and assesses liability based on the type of insurance.
Interviews claimants and witnesses, estimates repair or replacement costs, and prepares reports.
Negotiates claim settlements, issues payments, files regulatory documents, and manages salvage/subrogation as needed.
Recommends litigation when settlement negotiations fail, attends hearings, and participates in depositions.
Revises case reserves, maintains caseload efficiency, and utilizes technology for claim handling.
Sends claims exceeding $15,000 for leadership approval.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing: Bachelor's degree preferred; must obtain IIA-AIC designation within 12-18 months; appropriate state adjuster license required.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience; property and casualty claims experience a plus but not required.
Skills & Knowledge: Strong communication, analytical, organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to create comprehensive reports; team-oriented; capable of meeting performance standards.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: When applicable, reasonable accommodations will be considered.
Physical & Mental Requirements: Ability to handle computer tasks, travel if needed, clear thinking, judgment, troubleshooting, stress management, multitasking, and meeting deadlines.
