Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) Legal Section seeks an Attorney to provide legal counsel and support to the Property Litigation and Construction Law Units. The attorney will assist with expropriation matters, property acquisitions, and litigation related to DOTD projects across Louisiana.

Licensed to practice law in Louisiana is required. This position offers exposure to public-sector law within a statewide transportation program and collaboration with engineers

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law.

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation and representation for the DOTD on matters assigned to the Legal Section, including oversight of expropriation cases.
• Assists with litigation, bids, bid protests, and construction/ highway contract claims.
• Advises Real Estate on property acquisitions and provides legal counsel on contracts and regulations.
• Counsels department officials and engineers on contracts, legislation, and administrative regulations.
