Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Property Claims Adjuster (Inside) based in the United States.

The Property Claims Adjuster will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve property insurance claims through phone-based and other remote communication channels.

This role covers both personal and commercial property losses, including structural damage, contents, additional living expenses, scheduled property, and business income claims.

You will deliver responsive, tailored service to policyholders while coordinating with independent adjusters and preferred contractors to support accurate, timely claim resolution.

Working closely with internal claims teams and other business partners, you will ensure claims are handled in accordance with policy coverage, regulatory requirements, and established procedures.

The position requires strong investigative judgment, negotiation skills, and the ability to manage a consistent monthly claims workload.

You may also contribute to catastrophe response efforts across the company's operating territory when additional support is needed.

This is a full-time remote opportunity for an experienced claims professional who values customer service, collaboration, and continued development in the property insurance field.

Accountabilities
  • Investigate and Resolve Property Claims: Review personal and commercial property losses, including structural damage, contents, additional living expenses (ALE), scheduled property, and business income claims. Assess coverage, investigate circumstances, estimate damages, determine claim values, negotiate settlements, and close claims.
  • Deliver Customer-Focused Claims Service: Communicate with policyholders by phone and other internal channels, answer coverage questions, explain claim decisions, and provide a responsive, professional claims experience.
  • Coordinate External Claims Support: Assign preferred contractors and independent adjusters when field inspections or additional expertise are needed. Review their work to ensure quality, accuracy, and timely service.
  • Support Specialized Claims Activities: Assist resolution specialists with assigned tasks, including contents valuation and depreciation holdback calculations, while helping move claims toward appropriate resolution.
  • Maintain Compliance and Documentation: Follow established claims procedures for communication, coverage verification, loss investigation, liability assessment where applicable, valuation, reporting, documentation, negotiation, and settlement.
  • Meet Productivity Expectations: Investigate and close an average minimum of 70 claim elements per month, or 85 per month for roles focused primarily on contents claims.
  • Contribute to Catastrophe Response: Support catastrophe claims operations across the company's service territory, including overnight travel or extended stays when requested.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Participate in claims and cross-functional initiatives as assigned, maintaining effective communication with agents, sales representatives, underwriting, marketing, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain Required Licensing: Obtain and maintain applicable insurance adjuster licenses and pass required state licensing examinations within six months of hire.
Requirements
  • Relevant experience as an inside property claims specialist or equivalent role within the insurance industry.
  • A college degree or equivalent education in insurance or business.
  • Strong knowledge of property claims investigation, valuation, negotiation, settlement techniques, and claims management practices.
  • Familiarity with personal and commercial property insurance products, policy coverage, applicable legal developments, and claims-handling procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate claims thoroughly, assess documentation and damages, exercise sound judgment, and reach appropriate settlement decisions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build professional working relationships with policyholders, agents, contractors, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple claims, monitor external service providers, meet productivity targets, and maintain accurate records.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain all required adjuster licenses, including passing applicable state licensing examinations within six months of hire.
  • Ability to support catastrophe claims assignments when requested, including overnight travel or extended stays.
  • Preferred: Experience handling commercial property claims.
  • Preferred: Continuing insurance education through IIA, CPCU, or another accredited insurance education provider.
  • Location requirement: Applicants must reside and work in an eligible U.S. state. Eligible states listed for this position include Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Benefits
  • Annual base salary: $55,132–$88,210 USD, plus bonus eligibility and benefits. The final offer depends on location, education, experience, and other job-related factors.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Company-provided life insurance and income protection plans.
  • Eligibility to participate in a company incentive bonus program.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a 100% company match on contributions up to 7% of annual salary, according to the plan terms.
  • Paid time off, paid holidays, and floating holidays.
