Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; IIA-AIC designation to be obtained within 12–18 months; active state adjuster license required.
• Three years of related experience; property and casualty claims preferred.
• Empathetic claims handling demeanor; strong written and verbal communication; analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient PC literacy, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work in a team and meet performance competencies.
• Excellent reporting and negotiation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate policies, claims forms, and records to determine insurance coverage.
• Conduct thorough investigations; consult police/hospital records; inspect damages.
• Interview, telephone, and/or correspond with claimants and witnesses.
• Estimate cost of repair, replacement, or compensation.
• Prepare reports; negotiate settlements; issue settlement checks; handle salvage/subrogation as applicable.
• Recommend litigation by legal department when settlement cannot be negotiated.
• Attend litigation hearings and depositions as necessary.
• Revise case reserves in assigned claims to cover probable costs.
• Maintain an efficient caseload and meet deadlines.
• Utilize technology and automation tools for claim handling.
• Route claims exceeding $15,000 gross loss to leadership for authority.
