Job summary

Douglas County (NE) seeks an Assessor/Register of Deeds support staff to conduct property inspections, measure properties and collect data on real estate sales, new construction and permits. The role requires reviewing blueprints, maps and contracts, updating property records, interacting with developers, brokers and property owners, and maintaining accurate field notes for valuation purposes.

A valid driver’s license is required and the position may involve outdoor work and travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in real estate appraisal, assessment, sales, brokerage or related field.
• Two years of experience with MS Office required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical inspections of properties and collect data on real estate transactions and new construction.
• Transfer field data to property records following site inspections.
• Review blueprints, maps, plats, contracts and related documents.
• Update property records to reflect value changes and maintain legible records.
• Interact with developers, contractors, brokers, appraisers and property owners to obtain pertinent information.
• Photograph and sketch improvements and prepare reports and analyses.
• Maintain knowledge through trainings and continuing education.
• Promote a professional image of the office and comply with rules and policies.
• Operate a vehicle for county business and maintain regular attendance.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Two years of experience in real estate appraisal/assessment or related field
