Job summary

The Nevada Department of Taxation, Locally-Assessed Section in Carson City, seeks a Property Appraiser Trainee underfill a Property Appraiser 2. Under supervision, you will appraise real and personal property for tax purposes and support the ratio study.

You will collect data, inspect properties, analyze sales, and prepare detailed narratives to support valuations, with training provided toward advancement as a Property Appraiser 2.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, economics or related field.
• Two years paraprofessional experience assisting in property appraisal work.
• One year of experience as a Tax Examiner I in Nevada state service.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may apply.

Responsibilities

• Value real and personal property for tax purposes.
• Conduct ratio studies to evaluate county assessors' work.
• Prepare narratives including findings, conclusions and recommendations.
• Conduct physical inspections to measure construction characteristics.
• Explain valuations to taxpayers and boards of equalization.
• Provide appraisal assistance to county assessors as needed.
