Job summary

State of Nevada seeks a Property Appraiser II to join the Locally Assessed Section of the Division of Local Government Services in Carson City. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 years of professional appraisal experience, or equivalent—along with strong statistical and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two years of professional property appraisal experience or
• high school and four years of professional property appraisal experience, or
• one year as Property Appraiser I in Nevada State service, or
• an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine the value of property for tax purposes using accepted appraisal methods.
• Review sales data to verify land factors and prepare narrative ratio studies.
• Inspect properties to measure construction characteristics and classify as to use and value.
• Communicate with developers, contractors and county assessors to provide appraisal support.
• Prepare oral and written defenses of appraisals to taxpayers and boards.
