Job summary

Tillamook County is hiring an entry-level Property Appraiser to perform routine appraisals of real and personal property for tax assessment. This role conducts field visits, collects data, and updates assessment records under supervision, with a focus on learning appraisal, tax, and assessment processes.

During training, incumbents work toward statewide registration for appraisal work and must complete approved courses.

Qualifications

• Must possess valid Oregon driver’s license
• Must meet ORS 308.015 requirements and complete a state training course within 2 years
• Must pass pre-employment criminal history background check

Responsibilities

• Perform routine appraisals of residential, rural, commercial, or personal property for tax assessment purposes
• Gather field data, inspect buildings and land to determine value
• Compute assessed value and update county tax records
• Review computer printouts for accuracy and evaluate building and land values
• Interpret and explain appraisal procedures to the public
• Maintain legal description files and maps
