Job summary

The City and County of Broomfield Assessor’s Office is seeking a full-time Personal Property Appraiser. The role may be filled at Appraiser I, II, or III based on qualifications and experience.

The position involves valuing personal property, oil/gas assets, and maintaining property databases in a public-facing environment in Colorado. Candidates should have accounting knowledge or related experience, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED; some college coursework in accounting or math preferred.
• Appraiser II requires 2 years in personal property appraisal and 2 years ad valorem experience; Appraiser III requires 4 years in personal property appraisal and 2 years ad valorem experience.

Responsibilities

• Researches, analyzes, and processes personal property tax declarations for tax collection in compliance with state guidelines.
• Communicates appraisal processes to internal/external stakeholders and explains valuation methods.
• Maintains county database of personal property and oil/gas accounts; creates new accounts using parcel numbers and descriptions.
• Performs on-site inspections and valuations of personal property assets; determines value and tax exemptions where applicable.
• Works with city attorneys on cases and testifies in appeals as needed.
