Qualifications

  • Understanding of Rhode Island General Laws related to property taxation, exemptions, assessments.
  • Proficiency with Patriot CAMA and QDS tax administration systems or similar software.
  • Ability to read/building plans, surveys, deeds, plats, and other legal documents.
  • Experience in appraisal, mass appraisal, or property data collection preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review exemption applications for compliance with RIGL statutes and city ordinances.
  • Maintain and update property assessments in the CAMA system.
  • Enter permit data, evaluate construction progress, and update CAMA accordingly.
  • Conduct onsite property inspections and document results accurately.
  • Apply valuation adjustments consistent with mass appraisal standards.
  • Assist in preparing preliminary valuation recommendations for Assessor review.
  • Provide courteous customer service to taxpayers in person, by phone, and in writing.
  • Process deeds, surveys, and land records; manage parcel changes and subdivisions.
