Job summary

Orion Placement in Boston, MA is seeking a Property Accounting Manager to own accounting, analysis, and reporting for a diverse real estate portfolio. Lead a team and work closely with senior leadership to drive accurate monthly closes and GAAP reporting.

You will manage budgets, assist with annual planning, optimize processes, and implement improvements while using Yardi and MRI. CPA preferred; 5+ years CRE accounting and 2+ years supervisory experience required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 2+ years of commercial real estate or property accounting experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with monthly close, budgeting, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPA is preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting, financial analysis, and reporting activities for a portfolio of real estate entities and assets.
  • Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting closes are accurate, timely, and professionally prepared.
  • Review and approve financial workpapers, bank reconciliations, escalations, budgets, analyses, and GAAP reporting.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of property accountants and support their professional development.
  • Partner with property management, leasing, construction, asset management, and internal teams.
  • Play a key role in annual budgeting and monthly financial reporting for senior management.
  • Help enforce internal controls and implement process improvements.
  • Support and improve use of property management and accounting systems (Yardi, MRI).
  • Provide hands-on accounting support during high-volume periods and staff transitions.
  • Lead special projects and department-wide initiatives.

  • Lead special projects and contribute to department-wide initiatives and process improvements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 2+ years of commercial real estate or property accounting experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with monthly close, budgeting, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Yardi and MRI experience is preferred.
  • CPA is preferred.
