Job summary

CFS in York, PA is seeking a Property Accountant to manage accounting for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. You will collaborate with property management to ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting support, and analysis, supporting year-end audits and tax prep.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 3+ years in real estate or property accounting, with strong GAAP knowledge and Excel proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
• 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate, property accounting, commercial real estate, or property management
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Experience with Yardi, MRI, or other property management software is a plus
• Will consider candidates directly from public accounting

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties
• Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Analyze operating expenses, revenues, and overall property performance
• Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
• Assist with annual budgets and forecasting processes
• Review tenant billings, CAM reconciliations, and lease-related accounting transactions
• Support year-end audit and tax preparation activities
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls
• Collaborate with property managers and operational teams on financial matters
