Property Accountant - Luxury Developer - Great Work/Life Balance

A growing Real Estate firm located in Downtown Manhattan is seeking a Property Accountant with experience in handling accounting functions for a range of properties. The company specializes in the large‑scale development of high‑rise luxury residential and commercial properties throughout the NYC area. This newly created role is for a full‑time, in‑office position with the flexibility to work from home as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage the general ledger with a focus on accuracy and completeness; lead month‑end close processes for accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring timely recognition of revenue and expenses in compliance with GAAP.
• Reconcile multiple bank and cash accounts monthly, investigating variances and ensuring alignment between ledger and bank statements; monitor daily cash transactions to support short‑term cash‑flow forecasting.
• Execute full‑cycle month‑end close procedures for AR and AP, including preparation and posting of complex journal entries related to commercial lease agreements and property operations.
• Develop and maintain Excel models used for financial tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis, incorporating advanced formulas and pivot tables.
• Conduct year‑end reconciliations and true‑ups for CAM charges, property tax allocations, and other recoverable costs; ensure accuracy and transparency in tenant billing and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency with MRI or Yardi real estate accounting software a plus.

Salary Range: $90,000.00–$120,000.00 (Base compensation) – the total package may include benefits, equity, and other non‑cash incentives.
