Job summary

Bartschmanagement is seeking a Senior Accounting Coordinator to provide timely, accurate accounting for the managed portfolio and to serve as a senior resource between Accounting Coordinators and the Accounting Manager.

The role covers property and resident accounting, leasing data entry, move-ins/move-outs, and complex resident account issues while maintaining ledger integrity and ensuring audit readiness.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience in residential real estate/property accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements, tenant ledgers, AR, AP, and reconciliations.
  • Rent Manager experience preferred; advanced Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets skills required.
  • Excellent communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or assist with financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, year-end close, and audit preparation.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of property accounting information in Rent Manager.
  • Research and resolve complex AR, AP, general accounting, and resident account discrepancies.
  • Review tenant balances and maintain accurate tenant ledgers.
  • Process approved resident charges, credits, payments, reallocations, and account adjustments.
  • Perform leasing data entry, including lease entries, move-ins, move-outs, recurring charges, deposits, prorations, and other lease-related financial information.
  • Maintain accurate tenant ledgers based on executed lease terms and approved changes.
  • Coordinate with Leasing and Property Management to ensure lease and resident account information is accurate and complete.
  • Handle special requests relating to resident charges, credits, balances, and ledger corrections.
  • Assist daily cash management duties, including deposits, cash receipt logs, and posting cash to AR subledgers.
  • Assist with required 1099/1096 filings and year-end reconciliations.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for financial statements, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Serve as a technical resource to Accounting Coordinators and assist with complex accounting issues.
  • Assist with training, coverage, and process improvement in collaboration with the Accounting Manager.
  • Work closely with Property Management and Leasing to identify and resolve accounting and resident account issues.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The Senior Accounting Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to provide timely and accurate accounting information for the managed portfolio while serving as a senior-level accounting resource between the Accounting Coordinators and Accounting Manager. Responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of property and resident accounting information, with additional responsibility for leasing data entry, tenant ledger maintenance, lease-related accounting, move-ins and move-outs, and complex resident account issues.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Property & Resident Accounting
  • Prepare and/or assist with financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, year-end close, and audit preparation.

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of property accounting information in Rent Manager.

  • Research and resolve complex AR, AP, general accounting, and resident account discrepancies.

  • Review tenant balances and maintain accurate tenant ledgers.

  • Process approved resident charges, credits, payments, reallocations, and account adjustments.

Leasing & Lease Accounting
  • Perform leasing data entry, including lease entries, move-ins, move-outs, recurring charges, deposits, prorations, and other lease-related financial information.

  • Maintain accurate tenant ledgers based on executed lease terms and approved changes.

  • Coordinate with Leasing and Property Management to ensure lease and resident account information is accurate and complete.

  • Handle special requests relating to resident charges, credits, balances, and ledger corrections.

Accounting Operations
  • Assist daily cash management duties, including deposits, cash receipt logs, and posting cash to AR subledgers.

  • Assist with preparing and processing AP invoices through Rent Manager and resolve discrepancies.

  • Assist with required 1099/1096 filings and year-end reconciliations.

  • Maintain supporting documentation for financial statements, reconciliations, and audits.

Senior-Level Support
  • Serve as a technical resource to Accounting Coordinators and assist with complex accounting issues.

  • Assist with training, coverage, and process improvement in collaboration with the Accounting Manager.

  • Work closely with Property Management and Leasing to identify and resolve accounting and resident account issues.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
