Job summary

Castelion seeks a Propellant Manufacturing Engineer to lead SRM propellant production, including formulation, mixing, casting, curing, and related processes. You will work with design, quality, automation, and test teams to ensure safety, reliability, and scalable production for hypersonic programs.

You will develop robust procedures, document processes, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining stringent safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience, with 3+ years on solid propellants/energetic materials.
• Experience scaling mixing, casting, or similar batch operations in regulated environments.
• Hands-on experience with propellant mixing, vacuum casting, and curing processes.
• Knowledge of propellant rheology, ingredient interactions, and quality attributes.

Responsibilities

• Own or lead propellant manufacturing processes from ingredient prep to finishing operations.
• Develop and improve process parameters, work instructions, and control plans.
• Execute DFM and PFMEA; drive SPC and yield improvements.
• Support NPI by translating requirements into scalable processes.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions; collaborate on automation improvements.
• Ensure compliance with energetic materials handling protocols, DoD ITAR, and safety standards.
