Job summary

Tevis Energy is seeking a Propane Technician to install propane tanks and gas lines in the field and in customers’ homes. Training will be provided to obtain propane certifications and a license. This role involves safe operation of company vehicles, high safety standards, and on-call duty in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation is $23-$30 per hour. The position requires a Class A or B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements and willingness to work in adverse weather.

Qualifications

• Must be able to handle physical work, lift heavy objects, and work in variable weather.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Comfort with learning safety procedures and safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient, safe service to customers during tank and line installations.
• Move heavy equipment and inventory for installation work.
• Digs and backfills trenches when equipment isn’t available.
• Participate in after-hours emergency calls and on-call rotations.

Job description

The Propane Technician will work directly in the field and in customers’ homes installing propane tanks, gas lines, performing safety gas checks, and working with construction equipment. Will train the right candidate to get propane certifications and license.

$23-$30/hour

Job Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and polite service to our customers while maintaining the highest safety standards
• Ability to move heavy objects while performing tasks associated with tank and line installations
• Ability to manually dig and backfill trenches when equipment is not able to be used
• Is willing to work a flexible schedule with after-hour emergency calls and an on-call rotation
• Safe operation of company vehicle and equipment which includes cleanliness, daily inspections, and reporting of any problems in accordance with DOT and NFPA regulations and company policy
• Drive company vehicles in various weather/driving conditions
• Ability to learn and navigate a tablet to complete work cards and safety inspection accurately
• Familiarity with and adherence to company policies, safety policies and regulations
• Accurate accounting of inventory in service vehicles and other inventory items
• Cross train with other departments to perform other roles as needed during the busy season. This may include, but is not limited to, driving a truck to deliver propane, preparing, filling and delivering exchange bottles
• Preparing, maintaining, and organizing propane tanks for installation
• Perform every duty in a safe manner
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and Homeland Security background check
• Class A or B CDL License with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
• Construction, plumbing or propane experience
• Working knowledge of the equipment, power tools, and hand tools needed for the job
• Ability to work independently without constant supervision
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job which include bending, lifting heavy equipment, hand digging and working in confined spaces
• Reliable transportation to and from work with a clean driving record
• Willing to work in adverse weather
• Respectful of internal & external customers
