JOB DESCRIPTION
Are you passionate about harnessing the creative potential of Large Language Models (LLMs)? Do you excel at crafting intricate prompts and designing robust workflows to generate compelling content? Join Wolf Games as an LLM Engineer, where you'll use our internal tools to design, build, and deploy sophisticated prompt execution Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) at scale. Your primary focus will be orchestrating LLMs to produce high-quality, engaging creative content (narratives, dialogue, scenarios) essential for our immersive game experiences. We're seeking a creative technologist skilled in advanced prompt engineering (Sudolang, RIDES), LLM deployment intricacies (LiteLLM, Python), and managing structured outputs. This role is key to bringing our unique creative visions to life through AI.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Design & Implement Creative LLM Workflows:
- Develop, test, and refine complex prompt execution DAGs using internal tooling to generate high-quality creative game content.
- Employ advanced prompt engineering techniques to maximize output quality, coherence, and adherence to creative direction.
Integrate & Orchestrate LLMs:
- Utilize internal platforms and Python scripting to manage LLM interactions (via LiteLLM or direct APIs) within DAG execution.
- Ensure reliable extraction, validation, and formatting of structured outputs (e.g., JSON) for downstream game systems.
Optimize for Quality & Performance:
- Iteratively test and optimize prompts and DAGs based on creative feedback, quality metrics, latency, and cost considerations.
- Collaborate closely with writers and designers to translate creative briefs into effective LLM workflows.
Manage Deployment & Scaling:
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain prompt DAGs in a production environment.
- Contribute to the scalability and efficiency of our AI-driven content generation pipelines.
- Document designs and best practices for maintainability and team knowledge sharing.
- Stay current with advancements in LLMs, prompt engineering, and relevant tools.
- Experiment with and propose novel approaches to enhance our AI content generation capabilities.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
LLM Prompt Engineering:
- Proven experience crafting and optimizing complex prompts specifically for creative content generation using models like GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, etc.
- Deep understanding and practical application of advanced techniques (e.g., Sudolang, RIDES, chain-of-thought, few-shot, context management).
Technical Proficiency:
- Strong Python skills for scripting, API interaction, and data manipulation.
- Experience working directly with LLM APIs or abstraction layers like LiteLLM.
- Demonstrated ability to design workflows that produce reliable structured outputs (e.g., JSON) from LLM responses.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration concepts, especially DAGs, as applied to LLMs.
- Crucially: A portfolio or collection of verifiable examples showcasing your prompt engineering work, particularly complex prompts, chained execution/DAGs, and creative outputs. Applications without demonstrable examples will not be considered.
Creative & Analytical Mindset:
- Aptitude for translating creative goals into effective technical solutions.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills for diagnosing LLM behavior and optimizing complex workflows.
- Excellent communication skills to bridge technical and creative discussions.
- Experience working effectively in collaborative, iterative environments.
Growth Areas (We'll Help You Learn):
- Deeper expertise in specific LLM architectures and fine-tuning nuances.
- Advanced LLM evaluation techniques and metrics.
- Integrating LLM systems directly with game engine logic.
- Contributing to the design and improvement of internal AI tooling.
Show Us Your Potential Through:
- Your Portfolio (Mandatory): Demonstrating creative outputs, complex prompt design, DAGs/workflows, and structured data handling.
- Personal or professional projects showcasing innovative use of LLMs for creative tasks.
- Contributions to open-source projects related to LLMs or prompt engineering.
- Clear explanations of your process for tackling challenging prompt engineering problems.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with broader LLM orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex).
- Familiarity with vector databases and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
- Experience in the gaming industry or with narrative design.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive Compensation: $45-55/hr, depending on experience
- Impactful Work: Be at the forefront of using AI to generate creative content for novel game experiences.
- Creative Environment: Collaborate closely with writers, designers, and engineers in a dynamic startup.
- Remote-First Culture: Work from anywhere, with flexible hours.
- Growth Potential: Opportunity to convert from contract to a full-time role based on performance and business needs.
