Job summary

Farmer Veteran Coalition in the United States seeks an experienced on-site supervisor to plan, direct, coordinate and supervise construction, renovation or maintenance of agricultural structures and material handling systems.

You will schedule and expedite workflows for long-term projects and rapid service calls, overseeing crews, subcontractors and equipment to ensure timely completion and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of materials, processes, methods and tools for constructing, renovating, and maintaining agricultural structures and systems.
  • Able to read blueprints proficiently and apply plans to on-site work.
  • Understanding of budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and leadership for project teams.
  • Ability to supervise, train, mentor and motivate team members and subcontractors.
  • Strong judgment, active listening and problem-solving to address issues on site.
  • Excellent communication skills and coordination of people and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, coordinate and supervise on-site activities of personnel and subcontractors for construction or maintenance projects.

  • Supervise subcontractors and project team, manage on-site activities and ensure compliance with codes and safety.
  • Read blueprints and apply designs precisely to projects; monitor progress and resolve on-site issues.

Job description

Plan, direct, coordinate and supervise on-site activities of personnel and subcontractors concerned with construction, renovation or maintenance of agricultural structures, facilities or material handling systems. Schedule, coordinate and expedite the flow of work, crew, equipment and materials for long term projects and short term service of break down and repairs.?

Requirements
  • Excellent knowledge in all phases of materials, process, methods and tools involved in construction, renovation and maintenance of agricultural structures, facilities and material handling systems.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, budgeting and resource allocation, human resource modeling, scheduling, leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of people and resources. Aware of building code and legal compliance.
  • Ability to supervise, manage, train, mentor and motivate; foster open, honest and candid communication; and determine strengths and weaknesses.
  • Use good judgment, active listening, accepting responsibility and decision-making skills to answer questions, address complaints and resolve complex problems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient computer and software knowledge, including iPad technology, Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Project and AutoCAD.
  • Five or more years of previous work-related experience in agricultural process systems, specifically in developing or maintaining grain storage/handling and feed mill facilities or equivalent combination of any process experience and education.
  • Experience in supervising subcontractors and members of the project team as well as managing all on-site project activities.
  • Proficient experience in reading blueprints.
