Summary:

The Project Engineer will work on challenging technical projects as well as serve as an escalation point for Deployment Techs and Tier 1 and 2 Engineers. The successful candidate will be highly technical and a natural troubleshooter and leader with great customer service instincts.

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Professional Services team. This role requires a strong IT background to understand and address technical challenges. The ideal candidate will be adept at executing projects assigned in alignment with our CompassMSP processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Proficiently manage multiple tasks of varying size and complexity across diverse client infrastructures.
  2. Expertise in server, virtualization, and network infrastructure design and optimization.
  3. Advanced proficiency with firewalls, VPN configurations, site-to-site VPNs, routing, QoS, and security practices.
  4. Ability to design and execute high-level network, server, and virtual infrastructure solutions.
  5. Deep experience with disaster recovery planning and business continuity.
  6. Experience with vendor management and contract negotiations.
  7. Expertise in leading cross-functional projects and managing large-scale implementations.
  8. Advanced level experience/knowledge in:
    • server migrations including files, domain/DNS (FSMO), Line of Business Applications, DHCP, and printers.
    • network design, upgrade and implementation.
    • email migrations (on prem to O365 or cloud hosted to O365).
    • multifactor/SSO setup and management (DUO, O365).
    • configuration of Azure Cloud hosting environments (migrations and lift/shift a plus).
    • Intune, conditional access policies, and configuration of full Azure domain and hybrid environments.
    • M365 migration paths (SharePoint and OneDrive services).
  9. Prior experience in a Managed Service Provider or Consulting environment is preferred.
  10. Thrive in a fast-paced environment where adaptability is valued.

Qualifications:

  1. Typically 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, network administration, or in a managed services environment.
  2. Of the 10 years, 6-8 years minimum in a Professional Services (projects) environment.
  3. Extensive experience designing, implementing, and managing complex IT infrastructures and projects. Advanced troubleshooting and resolution skills.
  4. Experience administering Windows Server hybrid core infrastructure.
  5. Proven leadership experience, including mentoring junior team members and leading projects.
  6. Subject Matter Level experience in Networking, Servers, Azure, O365, or other company-based technologies.
  7. Prefer advanced certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP), CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions Certification.
  8. Prior experience in a Managed Service Provider or Consulting environment is preferred.
  9. Proficiency with systems like ConnectWise and IT Glue is advantageous for seamless operations.
  10. Provide escalation assistance, coaching, and training to team members to enhance overall performance and skill development.
  11. Flexible schedule availability to accommodate varying work hours, including after-hours support when required.
