Job description

Full Time - 37 hours per week, Permanent

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Project Surveyor to join The Major Projects Team at Bristol City Council.

Based within Homes & Landlord Services, you will play a lead role in the delivery of the Council’s cladding remediation programme across its high-rise blocks.

What Will I Be Doing

The Major Projects Team is responsible for the maintenance and refurbishment of the Council’s high rise blocks of flats, ensuring safe, warm and secure homes for our residents.

We are delivering an accelerated external cladding remediation programme across 24 high-rise blocks. The programme seeks to remove unsafe cladding and external wall insulation from these blocks and replace it with compliant, non-combustible systems, with completion targeted by the end of 2029.

This Programme Is Funded Through Homes England's Cladding Safety Scheme And Is Being Delivered In Partnership With Turner & Townsend And Their Appointed Contractors. It Is Structured In Two Phases:

  • A 6-block pilot programme, delivered in two tranches
  • A wider programme of 18 blocks, delivered in three tranches

Working closely with Turner & Townsend you will support the appointed contractors in overseeing the delivery of the remediation work. This will require significant periods of time out on site during the mobilisation, delivery and completion of the works.

You will collaborate with architects, planners and construction consultants throughout the duration of assigned projects. Ideally you should also have knowledge and experience in retrofit cladding systems.

What do I need to have?
  • Experience of surveying to carry out improvements to residential property is required and experience of working within social housing would be beneficial.
  • Experience and knowledge of the construction industry especially refurbishment and retrofit projects.
  • A background as a building surveyor or construction professional with experience of contract administration, project management, defect diagnosis and condition surveying.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with architects, planners, construction professionals, and residents in the delivery of refurbishment projects.
  • Qualifications and experience that demonstrate your knowledge of building defects and solutions, as well as a track record of managing different types of contracts and working with contractors and sub-contractors delivering large refurbishment projects.
