Job summary

Software Placement Group is seeking a seasoned Superintendent to lead highway, bridge, and infrastructure projects in the Tampa Bay area. This on-site role demands strong field leadership to deliver complex work safely, on schedule, and within budget.

You will run daily field operations, supervise crews and subcontractors, read plans and specs, plan equipment and deliveries, and coordinate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and the owner.

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading crews as Superintendent or equivalent on heavy civil work
• Experience with highway, bridge, roadway, drainage, waterworks, or utilities
• Ability to read plans and specifications and execute from them

Responsibilities

• Run day-to-day field operations on active heavy civil projects
• Lead crews and subcontractors, setting daily/weekly schedules
• Drive production to keep on schedule and on budget
• Own site safety and ensure a safe work environment
• Manage quality, inspections, and punch items to spec
• Plan equipment, materials, and deliveries
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and owner
• Maintain traffic management and work zone setup on road projects
• Maintain daily reports, quantities, and field documentation

Location: Tampa, FL (Tampa Bay area) | Schedule: Full-time, on-site

Overview

A large heavy civil contractor with a national footprint and a growing Florida program is seeking a Superintendent to lead highway, bridge, and infrastructure projects in the Tampa Bay area, much of it FDOT work. This is an opportunity for a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or General Superintendent who enjoys running the field and wants to grow with a contractor that is expanding its workload.

What you'll do

• Run day-to-day field operations on active heavy civil projects
• Lead crews and subcontractors, setting the daily and weekly schedule
• Drive production and keep the job on schedule and budget
• Own site safety and keep crews working safely every day
• Manage quality, inspections, and punch items to spec
• Plan equipment, materials, and deliveries
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and the owner
• Handle maintenance of traffic and work zone setup on roadway jobs
• Maintain accurate daily reports, quantities, and field documentation

Required qualifications

• 5+ years running crews as a Superintendent, General Superintendent, or Assistant Superintendent on heavy civil work
• Highway, bridge, roadway, drainage, waterworks, or utility experience
• Ability to read plans and specs and build the work from them

Preferred qualifications

• FDOT project experience is a big plus
• Bridge or structures experience is a plus
• OSHA 30 and MOT/TTC certification are a plus
• Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus
• Tampa Bay candidates preferred; superintendents open to relocating to the Tampa, FL area are welcome
