Job summary

Engtal in Chicago seeks a hands-on Superintendent to lead field operations on active jobsites across the area. You will serve as the primary on-site liaison for subcontractors, project managers, and clients, steering daily activities from mobilization through final walkthrough.

The ideal candidate has 5-10+ years running jobsites in commercial construction, with strong ability to read drawings and translate them into field execution.

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years running jobsites as a Superintendent in commercial construction.
• Experience with ground-up builds and/or interior renovation work.
• Ability to read drawings/specs and translate them into field execution.
• Proven track record of leading subcontractor crews and maintaining momentum on site.
• Experience with PM software such as Procore is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Run all field operations on assigned projects from site setup to closeout.
• Build and manage look-ahead schedules, sequencing trades to pace work.
• Lead daily coordination with subcontractors — site walks and meetings.
• Own jobsite safety — enforce OSHA compliance and keep a clean, organized site.
• Partner with the Project Manager on budget tracking, change orders, and timelines.
• Maintain daily logs and site documentation; ensure quality against drawings and specs.

A well-established commercial general contractor is looking to add a hands-on Superintendent to their field leadership team. This person will run day-to-day operations on active jobsites across the Chicago area, acting as the primary point of contact on the ground for subcontractors, project managers, and clients alike. The right candidate will thrive as the one steering the ship on-site — keeping crews aligned, schedules moving, and quality on track from mobilization through final walkthrough.

What You'll Be Doing

• Run all field operations on assigned projects, from initial site setup through project closeout
• Build and manage look-ahead schedules, keeping trades sequenced and on pace
• Lead daily coordination with subcontractors — site walks, trade meetings, and real-time problem-solving as issues come up
• Own jobsite safety — enforce OSHA compliance and maintain a clean, organized site
• Partner with the Project Manager on budget tracking, change orders, and overall project timeline
• Keep daily logs and site documentation accurate and current
• Review work against drawings and specs to ensure quality control throughout

What You Bring

• 5-10+ years running jobsites as a Superintendent in commercial construction
• Background in ground-up builds and/or interior renovation work
• Solid grasp of sequencing, means & methods, and jobsite safety practices
• Comfortable reading drawings/specs and translating them into field execution
• A track record of leading subcontractor crews and holding teams accountable
• Procore (or similar PM software) experience a plus
• Strong communicator who can navigate field issues without losing momentum
