Construction Superintendent

Location: Southern California – Assigned Project Site


Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt


Reports To: Project Leader (Manager)


Compensation: Range from $125,000.00 to $175,000.00 annually, based on experience plus bonus

Position Summary

The Superintendent serves as the on-site leader responsible for the safe and successful execution of assigned construction projects. Reporting to the Project Leader, this position directs daily field operations, coordinates subcontractors and project personnel, maintains project schedules and documentation, oversees inspections and regulatory compliance, and ensures work is completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with plans, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes. The Superintendent proactively identifies and resolves potential issues, communicates effectively with owners, architects, engineers, and the project team, and consistently demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, accountability, and Consolidated Contracting’s Core Values.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide overall leadership and direction for daily jobsite operations.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized project site while ensuring compliance with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable regulations.

  • Prepare and maintain required safety documentation, including Site-Specific Safety Plans, Activity Hazard Analyses, and safety meeting records.

  • Conduct preconstruction and weekly subcontractor safety meetings.

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the master project schedule and two-week look-ahead schedules.

  • Coordinate subcontractors, materials, inspections, approvals, and site activities to keep the project on or ahead of schedule.

  • Review plans, specifications, contracts, and other project documents to identify conflicts, omissions, code issues, or potential constructability concerns.

  • Monitor construction quality and verify that work is completed according to plans, specifications, codes, and company standards.

  • Coordinate required inspections, approvals, testing, and certifications.

  • Maintain accurate daily reports, project records, correspondence, and field documentation.

  • Participate in project meetings involving progress, quality, jobsite conditions, change orders, disputes, and other project-related matters.

  • Build productive relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal team members.

  • Provide leadership, direction, feedback, and support to assigned project team members.

  • Anticipate challenges, recommend solutions, and expedite significant concerns when appropriate.


Qualifications


  • At least four years of related commercial construction experience, training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Journeyman-level experience in one or more trades or completion of a construction-related college or certificate program is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, plans, specifications, scheduling, safety requirements, and applicable building codes.

  • Ability to lead subcontractors and project personnel while maintaining accountability for safety, schedule, and quality.

  • Strong communication, organization, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and remain effective under pressure.

  • Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software is preferred.

  • OSHA 30 certification required.

  • Current First Aid and CPR/BLS certifications required.

  • Valid driver’s license, appropriate automobile insurance, and reliable transportation required.


Additional Requirements


  • Ability to work at active construction sites and satisfy the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Flexibility to work occasional nights or weekends based on project needs.

  • Availability for emergency jobsite matters when necessary.

  • Appropriate jobsite clothing and personal protective equipment are required.


Pay range and compensation package

The salary range is $125,000.00 to $175,000 annually (commensurate with experience) and bonus potential. In addition to salary, see the following:
