Job summary

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in engineering or construction management with extensive vertical construction experience, MS Project knowledge, and a strong grasp of safety and quality standards to ensure project success.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of vertical construction experience with contractor, developer, or construction management firm.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, PDFs, CAD, Bluebeam, and scheduling software (MS Project).

Responsibilities

  • Review budgets, cost coding, and processing of vendors' invoices and progress payments.
  • Create/update CPM schedules and 3-week look ahead for GC/CM projects.
  • Oversee field activities, coordination of contractors, inspections, and safety compliance.
  • Assist leadership with permits, documentation, and project turnover.
  • Assist in developing and adhering to project budgets and reporting.

JOB SUMMARY:

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, budget verification, cost coding, and processing of vendors' material invoices, and general contractor and subcontractor progress payments
  • Create and periodically update the project CPM schedule and 3-week schedule on projects where HCMG is the General Contractor (GC role).
  • For projects where HCMG is the Construction Manager, reviewing of the general contractor's CPM and 3-Week look ahead schedules and tracking construction progress and adherence (CM role).
  • Reviewing material submittals and approvals and ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Reviewing Requests for Information and resolutions and ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Performing detailed and thorough review of project plans and specifications inclusive of addenda, revisions, and changes and ensuring construction compliance and avoidance of re-work.
  • Performing quantity takeoffs and performing ordering of materials
  • Assisting the Project Manager, Director of Construction, Vice President of Construction, and Executive Vice President with development of and adherence to project budgets.
  • Producing, collecting and filing daily reports including but not limited to Quality Control (GC role), Quality Assurance (CM role), BMP reports, Daily Diaries, Time and Material summaries, and testing documentation. Timely filing of reports with adherence to departmental filing standards, practices, and protocols.
  • Attend project and company meetings both in person and online.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Director of Construction with obtaining project permits and renewals.

Field-Oriented Responsibilities:

  • Conducting daily visits to project sites to observe construction activities and performing Quality Control (GC role) or Quality Assurance (CM role) to ensure construction is compliant with project plans and specifications inclusive of addenda, revisions, and changes.
  • Scheduling, coordinating, and supervising general contractors and sub-contractors, third-party inspections and testing, governmental inspections, and utility company inspections and installations.
  • Ensuring timely mobilizations by each trade, proper sequencing of work, and adherence to the prescribed task durations.
  • Observing contractors' and subcontractors' means and methods and assess for compliance with plans and specifications, HSE compliance, and efficiency.
  • Performing material ordering, tracking of shipments including timing of deliveries, and unloading and staging at the project site.
  • Providing timely notification of issues, discrepancies, conflicts, and sub-standard work to the Director of Construction and Project Manager to initiate efficient response and corrective actions.
  • Providing site damage assessments due to inclement weather, vandalism, theft, and sub-standard work, reporting and recording the information and reporting to Executive Vice President, Vice President Construction, Director of Construction, and the Project Manager. Subsequently coordinating repair and replacement actions.
  • Managing the project site to ensure orderly staging of materials and equipment, enforcing restrictions on employee parking areas, compliance with ingress and egress provisions, maintaining order and discipline on the project site.
  • Coordinating field office trailer and tool van or tool box locations, sanitation facilities, employee parking, temporary utility provisions, security, and considerations for adjacent residential and/or public safety and convenience.
  • Observing and managing Best Management Plan installation and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with NPDES permits and project specific Erosion Control requirements.
  • Providing field support and enforcement of HIOSH and OSHA regulations, and Haseko's Health, Safety, and Environmental program and support the directives and actions of the HSE Officers and Coordinators.
  • Conducting pre-final inspections, punchlist generation, supervision of corrective work, final inspections, and providing accurate and thorough documentation to the Project Manager and Director of Construction to support the closing of building permits and turnover to customers.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Executive Vice President, Site Development, Vice President Construction, and Director of Construction.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail.
  • Proficient in electronic, digital, and computer-based technology and equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Bluebeam, and other industry related, company distributed, or HHI proprietary software.

Education, Certification, and Experience Qualifications:

  • The minimum required education level is a Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • The minimum required job experience level is eight (8) years in vertical construction employed by a contractor, developer, or construction management firm.
  • Computer and software experience should include knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office programs, PDFs, CAD, Bluebeam, and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project).
  • Valid State of Hawaii Driver's License is mandatory.
  • Safety certifications including First Aid/CPR/AED, and OSHA 30 are a plus.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Physically able to conduct daily field inspections on multiple construction projects under reasonable weather conditions via walking and/or driving, and carry equipment as needed.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or using electronic or digital equipment.
  • Must be able to lift or carry up to fifty (50) pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to wear industry standard Personal Protective Equipment "PPE".

Salary Range: $84,000 – $145,000
