Role Description

The Project Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role located in Beaufort, SC, responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations on residential construction projects. This role coordinates labor crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and site activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project plans and specifications. Daily responsibilities include supervising crews, conducting site inspections, managing site logistics, monitoring quality and safety compliance, and addressing issues that arise during construction. The Project Superintendent also helps track progress against the construction schedule, supports budget adherence by minimizing rework and delays, and maintains clear communication with project managers, clients, and inspectors. This position is highly hands-on and requires consistent presence on the job site to ensure smooth and efficient project delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong supervisory skills, including experience leading field crews and coordinating subcontractors.


• Background in residential or commercial construction, with understanding of building processes, drawings, and specifications.


• Commitment to quality control, with the ability to inspect work, identify deficiencies, and ensure adherence to standards.


• Knowledge of residential building codes, safety/OSHA guidelines, and enforcement of site safety protocols.


• Experience with budgeting or cost control, including tracking labor, materials, and change orders.


• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction documents, and schedules.


• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.


• Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, team members, inspectors, and vendors.


• Proficiency with basic construction technology and project documentation tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, project management or scheduling software).


• Prior experience as a superintendent, foreperson, or lead in custom residential projects preferred.


• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or construction-related education is a plus.


• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and to perform the physical tasks associated with active construction sites.


• Valid US Drivers License is required.
