Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; a 2-year degree preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities preferred.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently without direct on-site supervision.
  • Excellent communication, patience, and professional interactions are essential.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record required; reliable transportation.
  • CPR, first aid, and NCI+ certifications preferred but can be provided by employer.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational experiences for identified students.
  • Provide job development activities to secure job sites for placements and job shadowing experiences.
  • Provide job coaching for students placed in community employment.
  • Maintain effective communication with Transition Coordinator regarding program activities.
  • Maintain documentation of goals, strategies, and progress for all students.
  • Utilize effective job coaching techniques including task analysis, prompts, and fading.
  • Provide follow-up and support services as needed.
  • Assist in transportation arrangements for employees who are placed in community and/or transport as needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Participate in program evaluation and revise program as required.
  • Assist Transition Coordinator with job club activities as needed.
  • Assist with the implementation of transition plans, which result from the IEP meetings.
  • Participate in or conduct meetings with parents regarding transition or employment in coordination with the Transition Coordinator.
  • Represent the transition project to the public as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Project Search Skills Trainer requires a high school diploma or GED, a 2 year degree is preferred. Candidates are also preferred to have experience working with individuals with Intellectual/ Developmental Disabilities. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and able to work independently without direct on-site supervision. The role demands a candidate with exceptional patience, compassion, and the ability to communicate effectively, always ensuring professional interactions. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and dependable transportation is required. Certifications in CPR, first aid, and NCI+ are preferred but can be provided by the employer. Finally, candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
