The individual in this role must be available to work Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm however, at times must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, which could include weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the selection of interns
- Provide travel training to new interns and actively participate in their orientation/onboarding to Project SEARCH
- Develop the lead relationship with the host business and its department managers to learn all aspects of specific job(s) and what is expected from the employer and the interns. Provide guidance regarding these expectations to other on-site team members
- Provide hands on training and support to the interns in a variety of job settings, ensuring the interns acquisition and retention of the required job duties
- Be creative, developing alternative ways to adapt the interns’ “abilities” to the job/rotation requirements
- Provide documentation of the interns’ job performance, progress on the day-to-day interaction, and any other reports as necessary or mandated by funding source
- Maintain regular communication with Project SEARCH Manager to keep them informed of locations’ activities; reports are typically made on a weekly basis or more frequently if needed. Attend all required team meetings
- Continuously seek out new rotations at the host site and employment opportunities, either at the host site or out in the community
- Coordinate and provide progress reports to Quest management, Orange/Seminole/Osceola County staff, host site’s department managers, and business liaison outlining specific needs of placed interns. Function as the key liaison for the host site
- Facilitate the transition of the interns’ rotation with the objective to competitive employment (job offer)
- Manage difficult and/or emotional interns’ situations resulting in a positive outcome
- Assist the OCPS/SCPS/Osceola teacher, as needed, in providing employability skills during the classroom phase of an intern’s day
- Promote and share Project SEARCH philosophy (competitive employment) throughout the host business and in the community
- Professionally communicate, verbally or in writing, with, but not limited to the Vocational Rehabilitation counselors, support coordinators, parents (guardians), department managers, and business liaisons as required
- Complete all required training from Quest Inc., funders, and host business – including any intern required training resulting from a competitive job offer
- Follow all Quest Inc. and host business policies and procedures
- Work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the job duties/organization
- Performs other duties as requested/required
Qualifications
- Any of the following tiers of expertise will be considered:
- Master’s degree or Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and written documentation (resume) of one year of successful experience and employment in counseling, job placement, job coaching or public vocational rehabilitation program OR/
- Associate's degree in arts from an accredited college or university and written documentation (resume) of two years of successful experience and employment in counseling, job placement, job coaching or public vocational rehabilitation program OR/
- Written documentation (resume) of four years of successful experience and employment in counseling, job placement, job coaching or public vocational rehabilitation program
- Must have Florida Driver’s License in good standing
- Able to work in the US and not require Visa Sponsorship from our company now or in the future
- Supervise others and communicate effectively, both verbally and written
- Adapt to a variety of work environments
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, which could include weekends and holidays
- Teach, train, and educate all components of specific skills/jobs
- Work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner
