Job summary

The Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) at UC Berkeley seeks an Assistant/Associate Project Scientist to advance economics research across social sciences.

You will design and manage data collection for the Berkeley Initiative for Transparency in the Social Sciences, lead research on using Large Language Models to extract metadata and treatment effects, and develop statistical models in Stata, SAS and R.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent international degree or enrolled in a PhD or equivalent international degree program.
• Strong background in economics and quantitative methods.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage data collection for research projects.
• Lead research on using LLMs to extract metadata and treatment effects.
• Develop statistical models and analyses using Stata, SAS and R.
• Mentor CEGA fellows, trainees and staff on research design, methods and analysis.
• Collaborate with external researchers and funders to advance the research agenda.
• Disseminate findings through papers, meetings and presentations.
