Job summary

The Lane Construction Corporation is seeking a Safety Manager to lead the accident prevention program on a heavy civil construction project. You will enforce safety policies, conduct training, and manage inspections to ensure compliance with company, federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities include mentoring safety staff, coordinating with field crews and subcontractors, and performing investigations for near misses and injuries to drive corrective actions and prevent recurrence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years safety management experience in heavy civil construction.
• Advanced safety certificate, CHST, ASP, CSP preferred.

• Works with corporate claims to ensure documentation on asset loss and workers' compensation claims is maintained.

Job description

• Leads, directs, manages and enforces the accident prevention program and the laws that relate to safety on a construction project.
• Enforces safety program and related policies and procedures and implements immediate corrective actions in accordance with the Company, Federal, State and Local regulations and owner requirements.
• Mentors, coaches, provides feedback and evaluates performance of safety employees.
• Develops and facilitates training programs, and holds regular safety meetings with field crews, subcontractors, and professional staff.
• Participates in regulatory inspections and investigates near misses, injuries, accidents, and incident trends to assist in root cause analysis process, which ensures corrective measures are put in place to eliminate potential for recurrence.
• Communicates with corporate claims department to ensure proper documentation has been prepared and maintained on asset loss and workers compensation claims.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree
• 5+ years safety management experience in heavy civil construction required
• Certifications: Advanced safety certificate, CHST, ASP, CSP preferred
