Job summary

Vaughn-Construction, a regional commercial construction company operating throughout Texas, is seeking a Project Safety Coordinator to oversee site safety and health administration on our projects.

Responsibilities include developing on-site programs, conducting audits, training personnel, managing workers’ compensation, and maintaining safety documentation. You will ensure compliance with regulations and support a safe, productive work environment on diverse construction sites throughout Texas.

Qualifications

• Minimum of seven years of experience in construction safety.
• Minimum of five years of experience in building construction safety.
• OSHA 500 or 502 training within four years.
• Current emergency first aid, CPR, and AED training within two years.
• Experience with fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane/equipment operations, electrical, and incident investigation.

Responsibilities

• Administers both GC and Owner safety program requirements.
• Develops specific onsite safety programs as required.
• Performs site audits for unsafe practices and recommends corrections.
• Trains personnel in safety practices (e.g., toolbox talks).
• Reports workers' compensation claims and administers onsite WC.
• Maintains HAZCOM, training records, and submits owner reports.
• Assists in Hazard Analysis Documentation.
• Administers first aid, CPR, and AED as needed.
• Stays current on safety regulations.
• Performs other duties to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
• Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality.

Position Overview

Our project safety coordinators are responsible for project-wide safety and health administration including developing specific on-site programs, performing site audits, leading accident investigations, training personnel, managing workers’ compensation claims, and administering first aid when necessary. This position may interact with all personnel on a project site at various times throughout the project.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Administers both the GC and Owner safety program requirements.
• Develops specific onsite programs, as required.
• Performs site audits for unsafe practices, conditions-make recommendations and/or know specific regulation on proper corrections.
• Trains personnel (e.g. Vaughn toolbox-sub in general meetings).
• Reports WC claims and performs onsite WC administration for both VCC and sub injuries.
• Performs recordkeeping/document control for HAZCOM, training etc. This includes various reports to Owner.
• Assists in develop/maintain Hazard Analysis Documentation.
• Administers First Aid, CPR, AED where necessary.
• Stays current on safety regulations.
• Performs other duties and services to ensure a successful project is delivered and client is satisfied.
• Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality.

Education and Training

• Minimum of seven years of experience in construction safety or equivalent combinations of CSP, OHST, CHST, etc.
• Minimum of five years of experience in building construction safety.
• Current OSHA 500 or 502 training within four years.
• Current emergency first aid, CPR, and AED training within two years.
• Working knowledge, experience, and documented continuing education in fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane/equipment operations, electrical, and incident investigation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to deal with a variety of people from craft workers to project Owners.
• Ability to maintain credibility with appropriate audiences each day.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be bi-lingual or have means to translate between English and Spanish.
• Good organizational and planning skills.
