Job summary

Vaughn Construction in Texas seeks an experienced project safety assistant to manage site safety programs, conduct audits, and lead accident investigations. The role requires bilingual communication, strong organizational and computer skills, and a solid background in construction safety.

Responsibilities include training personnel, reporting workers' comp claims, maintaining hazard analyses, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations to deliver projects safely and satisfy clients.

Qualifications

• At least six years of construction safety experience, five in building construction safety.
• OSHA 510 training completed within four years.
• Emerg./first aid/CPR/AED training within two years.
• Experience with fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane/equipment operations, electrical, and incident investigation.

Responsibilities

• Administers Vaughn's safety program requirements for Vaughn and Owner.
• Develops on-site safety programs as required.
• Performs site audits for unsafe practices and recommends corrections.
• Leads or conducts accident investigations.
• Trains personnel on proper safety procedures.
• Reports worker's compensation claims and administers claims for Vaughn and trade employees.
• Maintains hazard analysis documentation and records.
• Administers first aid, CPR, AED when necessary.
• Stays current on safety regulations.
• Performs other duties to ensure project delivery and client satisfaction.
• Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality.

Position Overview

Our project safety assistants are responsible for project-wide safety and health administration including developing specific on-site safety programs, performing safety audits, leading accident investigations, administering first aid when necessary, training personnel, and keeping project safety records.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Administers Vaughn's and Owner's safety program requirements.
• Helps to develop specific on-site programs, as required.
• Performs site audits for unsafe practices and conditions, makes recommendations and/or knows specific regulation on proper corrections.
• Leads/performs accident investigations.
• Trains personnel on proper safety procedures.
• Reports worker's compensation claims and performs onsite worker's compensation claims administration for Vaughn employees' and trade contractor employees' injuries.
• Performs record keeping/document control for HAZCOM, training etc., including various reports to Owner.
• Assists in developing and maintain hazard analysis documentation.
• Administers first aid, CPR, AED when necessary.
• Stays current on safety regulations.
• Performs other duties and services to ensure project is delivered successfully and client is satisfied.
• Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality.

Education and Training

• Minimum of six years of experience in construction safety, with a minimum of five years in building construction safety.
• Current OSHA 510 training within four years.
• Current emergency first aid, CPR, AED training within two years.
• Working knowledge, experience, and documented continuing education in fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane/equipment operations, electrical, and incident investigation.

• Ability to maintain credibility with appropriate audiences each day.

• Must be bi-lingual or have means to translate between English and Spanish.
