Job summary

Western Partitions, Inc. (WPI) is seeking a Project Safety Coordinator to run a safe, healthful site in Cheyenne, Wyoming. You will serve as the EHS contact, administer the safety program, and lead training and site audits.

Qualifications

  • BCSP designation required or in progress.
  • Three years of qualified project safety experience on similarly sized projects.
  • Thorough understanding of EHS programs, practices, and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure 100% compliance to WPI Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Be the EHS contact for the project.
  • Facilitate safety training and maintain training records.
  • Lead incident investigations with root-cause analysis.
  • Foster an injury-free environment with stakeholders.
  • Implement the site-specific health and safety plan.
  • Assist foreperson with high-risk activity mitigation and job hazard analyses.
  • Perform safety audits and drive resolution of action items.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Implement work control permits and evaluation processes.
  • Meet GC Safety Managers to improve safety cultures.
  • Manage onsite drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Participate in required meetings.

Project Safety Coordinator

Job Description

The Project Safety Coordinator’s objective is to provide a safe and healthful workplace and administer the WPI Safety Program in a manner that promotes a trusting and team-oriented environment for all workers.

  • Understand and comply with all WPI policies, procedures, and corporate safety program.
  • Ensure 100% compliance to WPI Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Be and be seen as the EHS contact for the project.
  • Facilitate safety and equipment training on the project and maintain training records.
  • Facilitate the incident investigation process to ensure root-cause identification, corrective action implementation, and sharing of lessons learned on the project.
  • Foster the injury free environment by developing positive relationships with office staff, project management, general contractors, subcontractors, and trade workers.
  • Facilitate implementation of the site‑specific health and safety plan.
  • Assist the project foreperson with identification and mitigation of high‑risk activities. Develop, review, and or approve job hazard analysis and pre-task plans.
  • Perform and formally document project safety audits and drive to resolution any action items noted. Ensure WPI fully complies with EHS Program, Federal, State, and local regulations on the job site.
  • Facilitate implementation of work control permits and evaluation process.
  • Be proactive in meeting with GC Safety Managers to ensure goals are met for improvement of both companies safety cultures.
  • Facilitate the onsite drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Participate in all meetings as required.
Requirements
Basic Requirements
  • Must possess one of the following Board of Certified Safety Professionals designations:
    • CST, CHST, OHST, STS-C, ASP
  • Have a minimum of three years of qualified project safety experience on similarly sized projects with similar type construction.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of EHS programs, practices, and regulations on the project.
  • Ability to prioritize personal workload and recognize priority conflicts and seek guidance for resolution.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills is required.
  • Ability to work in team environment is required.
  • Strong customer service skills are required.
  • Ability to multitask, think critically, and problem-solve is required.
  • Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments.
  • Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have a high level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret safety documentation and communicate with coworkers.
