Summary
This civil service position is open to King County employees and the public.
The King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) is seeking a highly skilled Project/Program Manager (PPM) III to manage KCSO’s contracts by providing exceptional service to all of KCSO’s contract partners by providing analysis, research, meeting facilitation, communications contract process oversight and special project support.
The PPM III position will work in three major areas, to include customer engagement and communications, contract processing, statistical and budget analysis support, and will interact directly with KCSO Command Staff, Executive Management Team, budget and accounting staff and senior leadership from contracting agencies.

Job Duties
The Project/Program Manager III will be responsible for serving as the lead for the Contract Services Unit. Responsibilities and functions of this position include but are not limited to the following duties:
- Implement contract program by managing, writing, interpreting, and maintaining contracts;
- Provide exceptional customer service;
- Conduct strategic contract planning;
- Gather data and assist in preparing contract cost exhibits;
- Teach employees, citizens, and other interested parties about the contract program;
- Market the contracts program; and analyzing program effectiveness;
- Participate in departmental strategy by assessing contractual impacts of potential annexation and other operating environment changes;
- Work at an intergovernmental level and liaison with officials from cities and other entities to promote and grow the contract program;
- Recommend contract-related policy and operational changes;
- Oversee annual report development;
- Prepare Police Service Reports;
- Serve as department web master for public side;
- Serve as lead on annexation issues;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
To be considered for this position, applicants must have three (3) years of progressive project or program management experience OR a combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Basic qualifications include:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Effective team player and ability to collaborate and communicate with contracting counterparts.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to successfully manage projects using current project management principles, methodologies, and processes. Skills in gathering, manipulating, and analyzing data with computer programs.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to perform simple mathematical functions.
- Ability to work productively without close supervision and work with others on project teams.
- Knowledge of research methods and ability to summarize information to key points.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and experience in developing presentations that include text, photos, and charts.
- Confident, articulate, and professional speaking abilities and experience.

WORK SCHEDULE
This position is FLSA Exempt and not eligible for overtime. The typical work week for this position is 40 hours per week
on a 5-8 or 4-10 hybrid schedule. Additional hours may be necessary to respond to workload needs.

WORK LOCATION
This position is based at the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle or Renton’s Blackriver corporate park.
GENERAL TIMEFRAME
