Job summary

Jobtailor in New York, NY, is seeking a procurement professional to own the full lifecycle for Gas Power projects. You will lead planning, execution, and closeout, coordinating with PM, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Finance to meet project goals.

The role requires strong negotiation, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with domestic and international supplier engagement. Occasional travel is expected.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience.
  • Experience in project-based industrial or capital equipment environments.
  • Strong contract understanding and supplier negotiations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
  • Excellent organizational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full procurement lifecycle for assigned Gas Power projects from planning through execution and closeout.
  • Develop and implement the Project Procurement Plan with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ensure procurement activities align with schedules, technical requirements, budgets, and contracts.
  • Manage procurement risks, long-lead items, cost exposure, and supply continuity.
  • Lead RFQs/RFPs for equipment, materials, and services.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers based on capability and compliance.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and commercial agreements with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare supplier evaluations and award recommendations.
  • Manage supplier contracts post-award with project and legal teams.
  • Identify alternate sources of supply to mitigate risk.
  • Issue purchase orders with Buyers and manage revisions.
  • Track supplier commitments and delivery schedules for long-lead items.
  • Coordinate with Logistics on shipments to site or facilities.
  • Support invoice reconciliation and payment issue resolution.
  • Manage supplier claims and disputes as required.
  • Provide procurement status updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and approvals.
  • Contribute to supplier strategy and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Use procurement systems and reporting tools to support decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Own the full procurement lifecycle for assigned Gas Power projects, from planning through execution and closeout
  • Develop and implement the Project Procurement Plan in collaboration with Project Management, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Finance, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure procurement activities align with project schedules, technical requirements, budgets, and contractual obligations
  • Manage procurement risks, long-lead items, cost exposure, and supply continuity throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lead RFQs/RFPs for required equipment, materials, and services
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers based on technical capability, quality, delivery, commercial terms, and compliance
  • Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions, and commercial agreements with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Prepare supplier evaluations and award recommendations
  • Manage supplier contracts post-award in coordination with project and legal teams
  • Proactively identify alternate sources of supply when needed to mitigate risk
  • Work closely with Buyers to issue purchase orders and manage revisions and amendments
  • Track supplier commitments and delivery schedules, especially for long-lead and critical-path items
  • Coordinate with Logistics on domestic and international shipments to site, assembly locations, or customer facilities
  • Support invoice reconciliation and payment issue resolution with Finance/Accounts Payable
  • Manage supplier claims, disputes, and commercial issues as required
  • Support internal and external stakeholders with procurement status, risks, and action plans
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and approval guidelines
  • Contribute to supplier strategy, category management, and cost reduction initiatives
  • Use procurement systems and reporting tools to support visibility, decision-making, and execution discipline
  • Provide regular reporting and updates to project teams and leadership
  • Support continuous improvement in procurement processes, supplier performance, and cycle time
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or purchasing
  • Experience supporting project-based industrial or capital equipment environments
  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts, terms and conditions, and supplier negotiations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally - less than 10%
