Job summary

• Experience leading procurement professionals or cross-functional teams.
• Experience in hydroelectric generation or related industries is strongly preferred.
• Experience managing complex supplier work packages, negotiations, contracts, changes, and schedules.
• Travel willingness to supplier and project locations as required.

• Personally manage complex work packages, including supplier selection, negotiations, contracts, changes and delivery.
• Review technical requirements and supplier proposals to ensure PO execution aligns with project needs.
• Monitor supplier performance and expediting activities; implement recovery plans as needed.
• Mitigate commercial, technical, quality, capacity, and schedule risks across projects.
• Act as the primary procurement interface for assigned projects with engineering and other stakeholders.

ANDRITZ Hydro is seeking an experienced Project Procurement Manager to lead project procurement activities for hydroelectric refurbishment and modernization projects throughout the United States. This is a working manager role that combines direct responsibility for complex project purchases with leadership of the project procurement team. The manager will have overall responsibility for procurement execution across all assigned projects, from sourcing strategy through final delivery.

Close collaboration with engineering, project management, quality, logistics, field service, and the broader North American Supply Chain organization is essential. The position is based in Charlotte, NC.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project procurement across the hydro refurbishment and manufacturing portfolio, including procurement planning, sourcing strategies, priorities, workload allocation, and timely escalation of commercial and supplier issues.
• Manage, coach, and develop the Project Procurement Specialists in Charlotte and provide functional direction to the purchasing and expediting resources supporting project procurement through the Shared Services Center in Mexico.
• Personally manage selected complex or high-risk work packages, including supplier selection, commercial negotiations, contract execution, changes, claims, and final delivery.
• Review technical requirements, supplier proposals, manufacturing plans, and project schedules to ensure purchase orders and execution strategies support project requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance, manage quality controls and expediting activities based on project and supplier risk, and implement recovery plans when required.
• Identify and mitigate commercial, technical, quality, capacity, and schedule risks across the project portfolio.
• Serve as the primary procurement interface for assigned projects and work closely with engineering, project management, supplier quality, logistics, field service, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support project execution.

We are looking for a hands‑on procurement leader who can balance team leadership with direct project execution. The successful candidate is comfortable taking ownership, setting priorities, developing people, and resolving complex commercial and supplier issues in a fast‑paced project environment.

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Significant experience in project procurement, supply chain, project execution, supplier management, or a related function in an engineered-to-order environment.
• Experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or functionally coordinating procurement professionals or cross‑functional teams.
• Experience in hydroelectric generation, power generation, rotating equipment, heavy industrial manufacturing, refurbishment, machining, fabrication, welding, or related industries is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex supplier work packages, commercial negotiations, contracts, changes, claims, schedules, and execution risks.
• Strong understanding of procurement planning, supplier performance management, expediting, manufacturing processes, and supplier quality requirements.
• Strong project management skills, including planning, prioritization, resource allocation, risk management, follow‑up, and escalation.
• Strong commercial judgment, negotiation, communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience working with international suppliers and distributed or shared‑service teams is preferred.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems is an asset.
• Ability and willingness to travel to supplier and project locations as required.
