Job Description

The UCSF Office of Medical Education is seeking an Implementation Project Manager to provide project management and operational coordination in support of the implementation of the F1 (preclinical) phase of the San Joaquin Valley Program in Medical Education (SJV PRIME+) at UC Merced. Working under the direction of SJV PRIME+ program leadership, the incumbent will coordinate implementation activities across UCSF, UCSF Fresno, and UC Merced to support Day-1 operational readiness for the Fall 2027 launch. The position serves as the primary project management resource for the F1 Functional Readiness Teams by organizing implementation activities, maintaining project plans and documentation, monitoring progress toward milestones, and supporting coordinated execution across multiple functional domains.

Working in partnership with program leadership and Functional Readiness Teams, the Implementation Project Manager serves as the operational hub for implementation activities by organizing and coordinating work across multiple functional domains. The incumbent develops project management tools and implementation documentation, synthesizes updates from functional teams into clear status reports and presentations, tracks action items and implementation milestones, and facilitates communication and follow-up to support coordinated execution across UCSF, UCSF Fresno, and UC Merced.

The ideal candidate is an experienced project management professional with demonstrated success coordinating complex, cross-functional initiatives in a collaborative environment. The successful candidate possesses exceptional organizational, analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills, and is adept at managing multiple concurrent priorities while producing high-quality work products. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project management, implementation, operations, or a related field is required. This position reports to the SJV PRIME+ Program Director and works in close partnership with SJV PRIME+ program leadership and Functional Readiness Teams to support successful implementation of the F1 phase at UC Merced.

About The Office Of Medical Education

The School of Medicine’s Office of Medical Education (OME) is the administrative unit that oversees all health professions education programs for the School of Medicine which includes 1,200 teaching faculty, 650 medical students, 1500 residents and fellows and 30,000 continuing education activities each year. For the past ten years, UCSF has been the only medical school ranked in the top five for research and for primary care training. The Office of Medical Education sets all strategic directives for medical education across the enterprise. OME is responsible for ensuring the highest quality learning and teaching environment for our programs and the support and development of over 110 staff.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Minimum of five (5) years of operational experience in which the individual has demonstrated sound judgment in working with leaders and key stakeholders to achieve program goals
  • Advanced knowledge of common organizational- or research-specific and other computer application programs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing. Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner for multiple audiences.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Thorough knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols and procedures. Preferred
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques
  • Advanced analytical / problem-solving skills
  • Experience implementing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Familiar with SharePoint or project management software (i.e. Smartsheet)
  • Ability to hold team meetings and perform presentations on implementations and process improvement projects
  • Able to multi-task and manage any necessary program related escalations to meet timeline requirements and client expectations throughout the program implementation
