Job summary

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in urban planning, community development, business or public administration, or a related field.
• Two years of professional experience in planning, zoning and related community development activities equivalent to Assistant Planner at City of Coachella.

Responsibilities

• Review development and land use applications, zoning, site plans and environmental documents.
• Provide project management and administration for planning projects.
• Prepare written project analyses and staff reports for various committees and the City Council.
• Assist the public on planning, zoning, permits, and environmental review at front counter and by phone.
• Serve as project manager on planning/development projects, coordinating with applicants and other departments, posting notices, researching background, and ensuring conformance with plans and mitigation measures.
• Develop data from studies and reports; analyze demographics and land use trends; maintain databases.
