Toole Design in Oakland, CA is seeking a Project Planner to join an interdisciplinary team focused on safer, more connected communities through multimodal transportation design. You’ll lead analyses, manage projects, and engage with clients and communities to move plans from vision to implementation.

The role emphasizes equity, climate, safety, and health in all work. Hybrid schedule with in-office days Tue–Thu and travel regionally as needed, with salary range $102,000 to $118,000.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in planning, engineering, design, public health, or related fields.
• Bachelor’s degree in planning or related field.
• Fluent in Spanish for engaging Spanish-speaking communities.
• Experience with multimodal planning and public engagement.
• Proficient in Excel and comfortable with descriptive statistics.
• Bonus: local knowledge and professional network.
• Bonus: experience with visual communication (maps, graphics, or design tools like Adobe or ArcGIS).

Responsibilities

• Lead analyses on projects that improve safety, accessibility, and equity.
• Manage projects and tasks and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Engage directly with clients and communities, including fieldwork and outreach.
• Travel occasionally around the region to support project needs.
• Support visions from planning to implementation across local to regional scales.
