Office/Unit/Project Description
UNDP is the knowledge frontier organization for sustainable development in the UN Development System and serves as the integrator for collective action to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNDP's policy work at HQ, Regional, and Country Office levels forms a spectrum of deep local knowledge to global perspectives and advocacy. UNDP invests in the Global Policy Network (GPN), a network of field-based and global technical expertise supporting the Strategic Plan.
Job Description
Within the GPN, the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) develops policy and guidance to support UNDP's Strategic Plan. BPPS provides technical advice, advocates for UNDP messages, represents UNDP at multi-stakeholder forums, and engages in UN inter-agency coordination. BPPS works with the Crisis Bureau to support emergency responses and integrates risk management into development programs. It promotes innovative, data-driven approaches and supports organizational change for gender equality and women's empowerment through the Gender Equality Strategy 2022-2025 and the Gender Equality Global Programme (GEGP).
Scope of Work
Ensure Effective and Accurate Financial and Budget Management
The Project Operations Analyst, under supervision, will support the implementation of the Gender Equality Global Programme, focusing on Outcome 1. Responsibilities include supporting budget preparation, financial reporting, budget monitoring, and compliance, as well as facilitating funding agreements and financial processes.
Procurement and Administrative Support
Support procurement planning, process implementation, and contract management. Provide administrative support for meetings, travel, HR processes, and operational requests, ensuring compliance with UNDP policies.
Knowledge Building and Sharing
Assist in updating guidance notes, facilitate knowledge sharing, document best practices, and participate in knowledge networks.
Institutional Arrangement
Report to the Gender Specialist, collaborating closely with the Gender Analyst.
Competencies
Core competencies include results orientation, innovation, continuous learning, agility, determination, partnership, and diversity appreciation. Technical competencies cover project management, operations, procurement, finance, and business management.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Economics, Management, Finance, Public Administration, or related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with two additional years of experience. Relevant experience includes operations, program support, project management, and financial resources management. Proficiency in IT software, web-based systems, and ERP is required. Experience with UNDP or similar organizations is highly desirable.
Language Requirements
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
