  • 5+ years of experience with the following: Leading complex industrial launches, manufacturing startups or expansions, new product introduction, contract manufacturing, automation, equipment implementation, production transfers, or integration projects.
  • Managing salaried professionals, including hiring, workload allocation, objectives, key performance indicators, development, and performance discussions.
  • Project portfolio management using integrated schedules, critical path analysis, milestone governance, Microsoft Project, risk and issue controls, action logs, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Managing project budgets, capital expenditures, operating expenses, resource capacity and loading, supplier commitments, and the business impact of project decisions.
  • Influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority, resolving complex issues, and delivering concise executive presentations and decision-focused communications.
  • Ability to work on site during critical execution phases and travel as required to support project locations, suppliers, commissioning, validation, ramp-up, and launch activities.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

We are looking for a Project Office Head, Manufacturing Capacity Expansion. This position will be based in the Raleigh area of North Carolina.

You will lead a growing team of project managers and the end-to-end delivery of manufacturing footprint expansion, new product introduction, contract manufacturing, and integration projects. You will align cross-functional teams, contractors, suppliers, budgets, schedules, and launch readiness from early planning through commissioning, production ramp-up, and handoff to operations. The role combines people leadership, portfolio governance, practical problem solving, and concise executive communication.

You’ll make a difference with:
  • Portfolio Leadership - Lead a portfolio of manufacturing capacity expansion, plant startup, contract manufacturing, new product introduction, and integration projects, including scope, schedules, milestones, budgets, decisions, risks, and recovery plans.
  • Team Development - Manage, develop, and scale a team of salaried project management professionals by supporting hiring, establishing objectives and key performance indicators, allocating project capacity, and conducting regular performance discussions.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination - Coordinate R&D, product development, operations, manufacturing and automation engineering, supply chain, quality, environmental health and safety, facilities, finance, human resources, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and applicable authorities.
  • Integrated Project Planning - Build integrated project plans covering product and process maturity, equipment specifications, sourcing, factory and site acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, validation, material readiness, staffing, training, production launch, and stable ramp-up.
  • Budget and Resource Control - Direct capital expenditure and operating expense budget control, resource loading, supplier commitments, schedule performance, documentation, financial controls, and escalation of cost or timing risks.
  • Problem Solving - Resolve complex, ambiguous project constraints through resourceful, practical solutions that protect safety, quality, budget, schedule, equipment readiness, material availability, and launch outcomes.
  • Executive Communication - Prepare concise executive presentations and steering committee updates that translate project data into clear status, tradeoffs, decisions, mitigation actions, and business impact.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project Management Professional certification, equivalent practical project management credential, or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Master of Business Administration or additional education in engineering, operations, supply chain, manufacturing, finance, or project management.
  • Experience with greenfield or brownfield manufacturing startups, mergers and acquisitions integration, line relocations, engineered electrical equipment, power distribution, protection, control, or critical power solutions.
  • Experience with factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, commissioning, qualification, production validation, material flow, automation reliability, staffing readiness, training, and ramp-up governance.
  • Experience using Excel and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau to organize project information and create clear executive-level reporting.

The pay range for this position is $129,520 - $222,034 annually with a target incentive of 20% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
